SEO has changed dramatically in 2012 with the introduction of Google’s Panda and its 21 subsequent updates, what worked yesterday for SEO will not work today. In 2013, we need to re-think the concept of “SEO techniques” entirely. Rather than a technique, SEO strategy should have a more natural approach, incorporating fresh and relevant contents with a strong focus on visitor engagement.
In 2013, we have to combine SEO with content marketing, social media marketing and mobile marketing to ensure that we are optimized for local search. Here are some useful ideas for incorporating these key areas.
1. Do Keyword Research
Quality, keyword focused content targeted to the needs of your audience. Update keywords frequently and combine both long tail and short tail keywords. Use keywords in title tags and anchor text. Check out the competition and compare rankings in the SERPs.
2. Update Content Frequently
Keep content always valuable by adding videos, info-graphics, charts and graphs with your posts and keep blogging on a regular basis. Search frequently for new, industry-related news and links to interesting information. Add social media icons to content; so people can share, follow, pin or email the information to their friends.
Add new posts and pages frequently with appropriate title tags. This is important and will position you firm ahead of others in the industry, who chooses to leave their content stagnant. If you don’t have new products or services, you can use your recent Q&A as a page and add pages as you receive new questions.
Practice good link-building to create content that people will want to share and share content your customers will be interested in. You will get positive SEO results if the links you provide are valuable and your anchor text is anchored with right keywords. Consider guest blogging as another link building idea.
3. Post in top Social Media Platforms
Post to all social media platforms frequently. Find out in which platforms your prospects are more frequent and post to those platforms. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Google+ are all highly trafficked platforms that have a proven track record for building brand awareness and spurring valuable dialogue. With smartphone use on the rise, building a mobile website is more important than ever. Google in December, 2011 launched smartphone Google bot-Mobile, to help mobile users find the site. Google even tells how to build a smartphone-optimized site.
Let Google+ know that you are the author of the contents you put on your website. To do this go to the setting area of your Google+ profile and in the contributor to area put the title and URL of your website. You also need to put the “rel-author” tag like this <a rel=”author” href=”https://plus.google.com/106499880196597606224″/> in the Heading section of your website.
Make sure you have a means for your customers to ask questions, and the ability to answer them promptly. Use these questions to enhance SEO by listing each question and answer on your site or blog and use the question in the title tag. Descriptive title tags, which honestly represent your content, help people and search engines find you.
